A Regional Waste-to-Energy Facility Serving Eastern Washington
About Barr-Tech
Our Commitments:
At Barr-Tech we aren't just generating renewable energy, we're
aiding the environment by collecting all forms of yard waste, food waste,
and bio-solids. Our location will allow for less transportation of these
wastes, greatly reducing carbon emmissions from trucking them to the
nearest processing location 140 miles away. We also utilize the by-products
of our process to help grow fruits and vegetables, produce high grade
compost, as well as generate a constant 2 Mega-Watts of renewable
energy. Building a new facility opens the door to many green collar jobs
in the area.
The Process:
The Location:
Barr-Tech has broken ground on a 40-acre facility in rural Lincoln
County at the Barr Regional Bio-Industrial Park located 22 miles from
the Spokane metropolitan area from where it will be drawing the majority
of its feedstock. This urban/rural partnership will open new avenues for
organic waste recycling in the northeastern region of Washington State,
localize the wastes into one campus, and reduce the transportation of
the wastes to 44 miles roundtrip from 280 miles roundtrip.
